School Improvement Plan for Student Achievement & Wellness (SIPSAW)

Our school is committed to increasing student achievement in the areas of numeracy and literacy. Below you will find links to our SIPSAW in both of these areas. If you have questions regarding either of these documents, please contact the school.

Literacy: By focusing on data collected through the F&P BAS, we will focus on targeting specific literacy skills to increase reading comprehension and develop deeper understanding of text.

Numeracy: By focusing on data collected through Math Running Records (Newton), we will use math games and explicit instruction to target specific

Literacy: Teachers utilized the F&P BAS system to level students decoding and comprehension levels. The assessment was used to drive purposeful instruction that focused on building out students’ comprehension. The assessment results also drove professional conversations about effective instruction practices (direct/explicit and guided/whole class) and how best to develop meaningful connections to text and positive attitudes toward reading for our students.

Numeracy: Teachers used Addition and Subtraction Running Records (Newton) to determine where students are in terms of the benchmark for those operations. The diagnostic also determined a student’s fluency and attitudes toward math. Based on this data, which we continue to reassess and track, teachers have planned games and experiences to be used in purposeful direct instruction to move students along the benchmarks. Teachers also placed emphasis on direct instruction to develop a specific benchmark strategy.
