At South Branch, we are committed to fostering a consistent, equitable, and intentional culture of well-being and inclusivity. We believe that great teaching and strong relationships create the conditions for every child to succeed. Our staff is dedicated to providing high-quality, engaging instruction that challenges all learners within an environment where they feel safe, supported, and valued.
Our students are provided with many opportunities to connect and learn beyond the classroom. Daily student-interest clubs, intramural sports, and a variety of extracurricular activities help foster friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. We value student voice and encourage leadership through school initiatives, committees, and events. Students also have opportunities to learn alongside community members through real-world experiences that make learning meaningful and relevant.
Our work aligns with the UCDSB Student Achievement Plan, which focuses on three key priorities:
- Achievement of Learning Outcomes in Core Academic Skills
- Student Engagement & Well-Being
- Preparation of Students for Future Success
To support these priorities, we are working toward three important goals:
- 90% of students reading, writing, and demonstrating number sense and operations at grade level.
- 100% of students reporting that school is safe, inclusive, and positively influences their mental health, wellness, and sense of belonging.
