School Council Goals

Goals

Goal 1: Maintain Excellent Positive Communication

Between Council and Parents

Promote awareness and participation.
Inform parents of current school activities, events and issues through the continuation of the monthly newsletter, Tiger Times.
Promote the Council website.
Promote our activities using community media resources.

Between Council and School Administration/Teachers

Provide input at Principal - Council information and planning meetings.
Continue to support resources to assist special needs students.
Solicit regular feedback regarding Council activities/priorities from teachers and administration.
Plan and promote school initiatives through the use of volunteers.

Between Council and UCDS Board

Attend meetings as required and provide feedback to parents through Council updates.
Support and participate in the planning processes whenever possible.
Advocate for specific school issues and for the rights for South Branch students and parents.

Goal 2: Support Educational Enrichment

Through the Support of Supplemental Learning Resources

Provide financial support for the development of the library and it’s resources as identified by administration and library staff.
Provide financial support for the purchase of classroom based learning resources.
Provide financial support for South Branch book rooms.
Provide ongoing financial support for the purchase of computer equipment

Through Student Enrichment Programming

Support the monthly Literacy Initiative, book swap program.
Provide financial support for music and art programs as requested.
Provide financial support for bussing costs for field trips, sporting events etc.
By organizing fundraising activities that support the goals of Council and South Branch
Identify fundraising activities/priorities for this school year in collaboration with administration and teachers.
